Paul F. Slavin - Project Director

Mr. Slavin was graduated from Western Michigan University in 1974 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Education and was certified to teach by the State of Michigan. Since graduation he has completed a course in traffic engineering technician principles and he has attended numerous technical seminars and traffic engineering courses as provided by Michigan State University, Wayne State University, The University of Michigan, the Office of Highway Safety Planning, the Institute of Transportation Engineers, and others.

Upon graduation, Mr. Slavin taught drafting at Allen Park High School, Allen Park, Michigan. Previous to his employment with Reid, Cool & Michalski, Inc., Mr. Slavin was employed by the civil engineering firms of Urban Engineering Company of Allen Park, Michigan and, Brender, Hamill, & Associates, Inc. of Plymouth, Michigan. His experience includes the preparation of survey drawings, design drawings, the design and drafting of pavement and utility improvement projects as well as the preparation of detailed designs for new subdivisions.

Since joining Reid, Cool & Michalski, Inc. in 1980, Mr. Slavin has served as draftsman, designer, project director and office manager. His responsibilities include coordination and analysis of data, field studies, and the preparation of required drawings. Mr. Slavin performs a substantial amount of the computer analysis required in preparing technical reports. Mr. Slavin has been involved with various types of projects including traffic impact studies, capacity analyses, parking surveys and pavement and parking lot design. These various studies have been used in connection with such projects as: Palm Gardens Mall in Palm Beach, Florida; Detroit Medical Center in Detroit, Michigan; Travelers Tower in Southfield, Michigan; Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan; and Amway Corporation in Ada, Michigan, and Island Lake of Novi Residential Development in Novi, Michigan.

In addition to these aforementioned projects, Mr. Slavin has prepared traffic studies for numerous other projects in the State of Michigan. These projects span a wide range of land uses including light industrial sites, residential sites, and shopping centers.
